Philip Armstrong

February 18, 1962 — December 3, 2020

Philip A. Armstrong, 58, of Rockford went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 3, 2020. Born February 18, 1962, in Rockford, IL, the son of John E. and Lois A. (Allen) Armstrong. Philip attended Barbara Olson Center of Hope in Rockford for many years and most recently at Malcolm Eaton Enterprises in Freeport, IL. He also attended Forest City Baptist Church for many years where he was loved by so many. Philip enjoyed spending time with his family, but more than anything, Philip loved Jesus. Due to his physical and speech limitations, he may not have been able to do some of the things that we all take for granted every day. But, what Philip could do without hesitation in his own way, was share his love of the Bible and Jesus to everyone he would meet. Whether he was walking around the neighborhood with his Daddy, doing "church" with his Mom every Sunday and singing with her, or sitting in the front seat of the family boat, Philip was a testimony of undeniable happiness and joy. He had a love of puppies, yearly family vacations to Kentucky Lake and even had an amazing experience of doing therapeutic horse riding for a few years in Poplar Grove, IL. Philip loved listening to many types of music, but his absolute favorite song was Jesus Loves Me. Philips own unique sense of humor, smile and laugher will remain in our memories forever. Our family is comforted by knowing that when Philip reached heavens gates, he was welcomed in with loving arms by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Survivors include his mother, Lois; his sisters, Elaine (Ric) Smith and Ruth (Jeff) Wilcox; nieces, Katie (Eric) Larsen, and Trisha (Ryan) Palencer; nephews, Matt (Sarah) Wilcox, and Dustin (Amanda) Wilcox. Predeceased by his father; grandparents; and a niece, Megan McMullen. The family wishes to thank all the staff and residents of Canterbury Group Home for their wonderful care of Philip over the years.

Private family services will be held in Arlington Memorial Park, Rockford. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
