Pete Encheff, 77, of Loves Park, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, while feeling so much love from his family and friends. Pete was born August 12, 1947, in Phil Campbell, AL, to Mike P. and Macel A. (Stephens) Encheff. He had a sister, Patsy, who passed away as a small child. He also had twin siblings, a brother, James (Butch) who is married and a sister, Jessie (Dutch) who is also married. Pete was lucky to have also met another brother later in life, Wendell, who had been adopted. They shared many stories and similarities together. He was very happy to have them in his life. Pete was married to Carol for over fifteen years and had his only daughter, Shelly, who is married with two boys (Pete's pride and joy). He had many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He started out working in Heat Treat at Progressive Steel. Pete then spent many years at Elco. Then he found his calling. He loved driving a Semi. He did that for most of his life going all over the United States. When he was home he enjoyed fishing, playing music, poker, and becoming everyone's friend at Vic and Jims where he was known as the OG. Many deals were made on that stool! After retiring, he was always good for a ride anywhere for his best friend Jerry or his brother, Butch, and a good story! He had many! His life was simple, quiet and not fancy just the way he liked it!
A memorial visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, with a small memorial service at 2 p.m. at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. Cremation rites accorded.
