Peggy Johnson

Peggy Sue “Peg” Johnson, 79, of Davis passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Born September 3, 1941, in Rockford, the daughter of Edward and Eleanor (Cloyd) Froning. Graduated Harlem High School, Class of 1959. Married Roger Johnson on January 19, 1962, in Evergreen Park. Employed as a labor and delivery nurse at Rockford Memorial Hospital for 25 years. Member of the Clifford E. Johnson VFW Auxiliary. Peg enjoyed playing mahjong, knitting, and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family and visiting with neighbors. Peg did not have a mean bone in her body and made friends with everyone she met. She had unwavering faith, was the calm in any storm and had a heart of gold. Survivors include her husband, Roger; son, Doug (Lori) Johnson; grandchildren, Scott, Josh (Kasey), Justin (Becky) and Chris (Heidi); several great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Jeri) Froning; sister, Diane (Ron) Collins; many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; son, Steven Johnson; and brother, Edward “Skip” Froning.

Walk through visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Facial coverings required. Private family mass will be held with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
