Paul J. Laures, 79, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born March 7, 1937, in New Hampton, Iowa, son of Nick and Loretta Laures. In 1956, he met his wife-to-be, Dorothy Lester, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City where they both worked. They were married August 1, 1959, and moved to Rockford in 1960. Paul was a technical and industrial marketing writer for more than 40 years, and served a variety of clients in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Paul was also active in the Eucharistic Ministry at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Survivors include wife, Dorothy; four sons, David (Lil) Laures, Tom (Amy) Laures, Ronald Laures and Joe (Carol) Laures; daughter, Mary Blanck; grandchildren, Nicholas, Mei Ling and Fay Ling, Matthew, Allison, Kailei, Jonathan and Ashley; great-grandson, Josiah; brother, Raymond Laures; four sisters, Bernadeen Novack, Mary Jo Harlan, Agnes Pearson Willcox, and Regina Gustas. Predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Donald.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2016, in St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
