Patricia A. Mandera, 79, of Machesney Park departed this earthly life Thursday, October 1, 2020, in her home surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Born June 27, 1941, in Wausau, WI, the daughter of Arnold and Marie (Schwenkner) Hoffmann. Married the love of her life, George L. Mandera, on October 19, 1957, in Rockford. They enjoyed 55 years together until his passing. Retired from Atwood Industries. Owned and operated Mandera Ceramics from 1990 to 1996. Sewing and gambling were her passions and she loved to travel. Most of all, she loved to spend time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patricia was a wonderful and caring mother that always put her family first. She had the most wonderful smile. Survivors include daughters, Anna Mandera, Terry (Bryan) Young, and Kelly (Lewis) Benjamin; grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Zemla, Amy Price, Matthew McHenry, MaryAnn Brown, Kayla Benjamin, Danielle Young, Tiffany (Tim) Johnson, Halee Benjamin, and Heather Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Breana Price, Taylor Zemla, Payton Price, Isaac McHenry, Olivia McHenry, Leo Benjamin, Isaiah lynch; cousins, Jack and Jan Phillips, and Dave and Sharon Connell; many other relatives and friends; and her two life saver puppies, Lola and Cinnamon. Predeceased by both parents; husband; and all of her siblings.
Private graveside service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park. A get-together will be held on Thursday, October 8,2020, at noon for family and friends at Patricia’s residence. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
