Otto Blaser

June 14, 1925 — February 10, 2016

Otto James Blaser, 90, of Rockford was placed into the arms of God on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Born June 14, 1925, in Janesville, WI., the son of Otto James and Edna (Altman) Blaser. He attended the University of Wisconsin and was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in France. Owned and operated Kline and Blaser Realtors in Rockford for many years. Otto never lost interest in Rockford real estate happenings. An avid fisherman and lifelong Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed world travel during retirement, wonderful fellowship, leadership, volunteerism, and until very recently, many hours of pool playing at the Loves Park Senior Center. Friendly family poker and hearty debate topped his list of good fun and he usually won the debates as well as the card games. Longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and most recently, St. Bridget Catholic Church. From a talented, industrious family of cheese makers, Otto embraced his Swiss heritage throughout life. Twenty-six family members gathered at Rockford’s Tinker Swiss Cottage this past June to delight his 90th birthday with Swiss music, food and dress. A staunch leader, beloved by his family. Survivors include his children, Kathy Rippon of Kenosha WI., Linda (Gary) Lollar of Sanford, FL., Jim (Mary) Blaser of Rockford, Lori (John) Bracey of Rockford, Jackie (Michael) Kido of Welches, OR., and Mike Blaser of Rockford; grandchildren, Brad (Carrie) Rippon, Brian Rippon, David Vogt, Bobby (Kendra) Vogt, Sarah (Michael) Lotko, Annie Blaser, Allison Bracey, Shannon Bracey; great--grandchildren, Alizah Berger, Brian Rippon, Avani Rippon, Sophia Lotko, Hayes Vogt, and baby boy Lotko on the way; and sister, Lucille Blaser of Madison, WI. Predeceased by his parents; stepfather, Anton Neiderberger; lifelong dear friend, Connie Mount. Special thanks to the loving team at Morning Star Village and Visiting Nurses Association.
