Orley D. Larson, 91, of Rockford was reunited with his wife, Ruth, on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Born May 21, 1926, in Milwaukee, WI. Orley was raised on a farm in New Auburn, WI. He graduated from Chetek High School, Class of 1944. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Married Ruth M. Lindvall on September 29, 1979, in Rockford. Retired from Wisconsin Bell. Member of First Lutheran Church and AT&T Pioneers. He enjoyed traveling, reading and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packer fan. Survivors include his children, Sandy (Lou) Henke, James (Shelly) Larson and Judy (Rick) Rassbach, all of Wisconsin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; niece, who coordinated his loving care, Dawn (Brian) Conway; nephews, Robert Lindvall and David Lindvall, all of Illinois; several other nieces and nephews; half-brother, Galen Hagen of Wisconsin; and half-sister, Jean Parker, of Wisconsin. Predeceased by his wife; niece, Crystal; and nephew, William. The family wishes to thank Independence Village, All Life Solutions and his church family for their loving care.
Memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 28, at Independence Village, 3665 North Alpine Road, Rockford. The Reverend Jane McChesney, pastor of First Lutheran Church, will officiate.
