Norma (Hill) Gorman-Ashton
Norma (Hill) Gorman-Ashton, 104, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born November 30, 1918, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Sidney and Alice (Winter) Hill. She married Frank Gorman Sr. in Chicago, 1940, and they had two sons, John and Frank Jr. before he passed away in 1954. In March,1960, in Melrose Park, IL, she married Jack Ashton. Norma enjoyed time with her family and friends, playing board games, taking walks in nature, and taking part in church and Bible studies. She resided happily at her Fairhaven home for 23 years and was grateful for the exceptional caring staff and many dear friends made there.
Survivors include her son, Frank Jr. (Loretta) Gorman, and Joanne (Jack) Bowron; grandchildren, Janet Kruse (Jeff Kruse), Jeff (Sheila) Gorman, Christy (Jason) McKinney, Wendy (Michael) Parra, and Frank III (McKenzie) Gorman; great-grandchildren, Jessa (David) Henry, Katie (Eli) Warner, Zachary, Loghan, and Rowan Gorman, Kaela (Johnathan) Lerma, Anna and Luke McKinney, Nicholas and Jacob Parra, and Maeven Gorman; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husbands, Frank Gorman and Jack Ashton; her son, John Gorman; great-granddaughter, Molly Gorman; and her siblings.
Per her request, services will be private and cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Fairhaven. Donations in her name will be gladly accepted by Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, 3470 N. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL 61114, in lieu of flowers, for this extraordinary caregiving ministry.
