Nancy L. Moist, 86, of Rockford passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born September 15, 1931, in Rockford, the daughter of Louis and Edna (Adams) Gable. She married her high school sweetheart, Wilbur F. Moist on May 26, 1951, in Roscoe. They enjoyed many wonderful vacations; visiting various locations here and abroad. The two traveled Europe for their 50th anniversary. Nancy started her career working for Roper Co., and then becoming a realtor where she took great pride in contracting, building and selling homes. Member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Many years ago, she appeared on local television. She loved softball and played with several softball teams in the area, including the church team. Nancy was an avid runner and member of the Rockford Roadrunners. A highlight of hers was going skydiving at the age of 60. She was a longtime member of VIM and loved reading and taking classes at CLR. Survivors include daughters, Shelley Sorenson and Amy (Don) Moist-Rollette; son, Ben (Linn) Moist; grandchildren, Gregory, Garrett, Britt, Spencer, Thomas, Natalie, Collin and Connor; great-grandchildren, Brennan, Liam and Coreon; brothers, Glen (Elaine) and Roger Gable; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband; son-in-law, John Sorenson; sister, Bonnie; and brothers, David and Louis “Sonny”. Nancy was beloved and will be greatly missed by all.
Service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1829 North Rockton Ave., Rockford. Burial in Owen Center Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
