Nancy Humpal
August 20, 1944 — March 23, 2024
Nancy Ann Humpal, 79, formerly of Loves Park, IL, of Wauwatosa, WI, passed on to eternal life with our Blessed Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in her home after a long battle with cancer. Born August 20, 1944, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Raymond P. and Mary Alice (Govern) Humpal. Nancy attended St. James Catholic School and later was in the first graduating class at St. Bridget Catholic School. She graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School just in time to begin a life of adventure and “Fun”! Just for “Fun”, while in high school she entered and won a hula hoop contest that led to a video appearance on American Bandstand. After graduation, Nancy eagerly got a job as a legal aid that afforded her the opportunity to buy brand new “Fun” sports cars including a 1962 Corvair Monza, a 1965 Ford Mustang, a 1969 Pontiac Firebird and several more over the years. Songs from Elvis, Frank, Tony, and Liza blared from the speakers as she tooled down the road for “Fun”. Her inquisitive and spunky nature led her on many an adventure, just for “Fun”. Whether venturing out to California to check out the surfing scene, exploring in Jamaica, watching a circus parade or jaunts to the north woods of Wisconsin. It was always just for fun. Always the life of the party, Nancy planned many family gatherings, including making homemade films. She adored her five brothers, and continually coerced them to perform in various skits and dances at her ‘Parties’. Despite the protests of “her boys” as she called them, they always complied. After all it was just for “Fun”. She loved her sports too: Bears, Packers, and of course her guy, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Parties were to Nancy just an extension of the way she lived life, and boy, did she live. Nancy was always upbeat and always cared about others. She was that beautiful Irish rose that stood out in a field of flowers. You couldn't help but like Nancy, her smile and gregarious personality were infectious to all whom had the privilege to meet her. She “ran the great race, finished the course, kept the faith” all for the love of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her beloved brothers, Patrick (Mary Ellen), Thomas (Julie), Timothy (Carmen), James (Mary), and William (Mary Jo); and she was the favorite aunt for many nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Mary Alice Humpal. Grateful appreciation from the family is extended to all of Nancy’s wonderful friends, medical staff and family members who supported Nancy in her final journey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time.
