Nancy K. Hersey, 79, of Rockford passed away peacefully Saturday, December 25, 2021, in Wesley Willows. Born December 10, 1942, in Rockford, the daughter of David R. and Madeline A. (Priest) Hough. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1960. Married Douglas G. Hersey on October 9, 1965, in Rockton. Employed by Rockford Public Schools for 22 years and formerly by the Loves Park Medical Clinic for 16 years. Member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1971 where she was very active in the Grace Circle. Her greatest love was being a grandmother and was known for always having a fun game to play. She loved her home on Lakecrest by Rock Cut Park where she enjoyed outside activities of biking, snowmobile riding, playing pickleball, and enjoying the pool where she spent time on her favorite hobby, clipping coupons. She was a very enthusiastic Cubs fan. Nancy moved to Wesley Willows in June of 2018 and was known for her skills in playing word games, bingo, and Texas Holdem’. Survivors include her sons, Curtis Hersey of Florida and Kevin (Aimee) Hersey of Loves Park; grandchildren, Hayden, Austin, and Richard. Predeceased by her parents and husband. Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, in Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
