Michael S. Young

Michael (Mike) Stephen Young was born on October 20, 1978, in
Rockford, Illinois to Cynthia (Cindy) & Jimmie (Jim) Young. He went to
be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Mike
enjoyed sports, especially the University of Michigan athletics. Most
Saturdays, you would find him in front of a TV watching the
Wolverines dominating their opponents. He loved watching his
nephews play basketball, even helping coach their homeschool travel
team, the Rockford FIRE. Not only did he observe sports, he
participated in them as well, coaching and playing softball for his
church, City First.
Mike enjoyed his craft, becoming a state licensed plumber and
electrician. He worked with his brother and uncles for several years
until venturing out on his own, creating his own trade business. He
was the best uncle his nephews could ask for, a great friend, and an
amazing brother and son. He loved the Lord and served at his
church, City First on the usher team.
Mike is survived by his mother, Cynthia, his sister, Stacy, his brother,
Randy (Janelle), and his nephews, Jack (Olivia), Carter (Abby),
Dawson, and Tate Young. He was predeceased by his father, Jim, his
niece, Madelynn, and both sets of his grandparents.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2026
at 4pm at Turning Point Church located at 1625 Myott Ave. in
Rockford with Rev. Steve Lapp and Rev. Randy Young officiating. A
visitation will begin at 3:30pm prior to our service. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to his family.
