Michael E. “Mike” Hoss, 80, of Rockford, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, following a brief illness, the day after spending a quiet Christmas with his family.
Born August 12, 1943, in Rockford, IL, Mike was the son of John “Jack” and Phyllis (Lambka) Hoss. A graduate of Harlem High School, Mike was employed by Ingersoll Milling Machine Company for over 35 years.
He married Kathleen “Kathy” Dailey on July 10, 1971. Mike enjoyed westerns, Bond movies, weekly outings with his wife, and breakfasts with buddies. Mike also cherished spending time with family, especially his adoring grandchildren. Mike will be remembered for his kindness, ever-present wit, and sly sense of humor. Survivors include his wife, Kathy; sons, Christopher (Jill Daisy) Hoss and Jason (Katie) Hoss; grandchildren, Lily Esther and Beckett Michael; and sister-in-law, Roberta Hoar. Mike was predeceased by his parents: mother and father-in-law, Merlyn and Julia Dailey; sister, Pamela Krull; and brother-in-law, William Hoar.
Memorial visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. Cremation rites accorded.
