Michael Lee Erickson, 68, of Rockford, IL, graduated to heaven on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Born November 4, 1956, in Rockford, the son of Donald Richard and Susan Mae (Swenson) Erickson. He married Denise R. Wittner on May 14, 1977, in Rockford. Employed by Rock Valley College for 30 years, retiring in 2011. Member of Life Church in Roscoe, IL, Plug & Pellet, and International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santas (IBRBS). Michael enjoyed making wooden toys from exotic woods and fishing. Devoted Amazon shopper. He was known as MacGyver and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include his wife, Denise; children, Renee (Eric) Miller and Lee (Joy) Erickson; grandchildren, Joselyn Miller, Hunter Miller, Ewan Erickson, Hannah Erickson, and Linnea Miller; mother, Susan Erickson; brother, Bruce (Lori) Erickson; sisters, Deb Rinaldi and Ami Erickson; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father; and sister, Beth Sisson.
A Celebration of Life will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Verdi Club, 782 North Madison Street, Rockford. Cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Salvation Army Toy Drive or bring a new unwrapped gift to be donated.
