MURFREESBORO, TN - Merlyn E. Meyer, 88, of Murfreesboro, TN., passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016. Born October 15, 1927, in Elgin, IL., the son of Herman and Luetta (Lindenmann) Meyer. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy. Married Mary T. Stouvenin on July 1, 1950, in Marengo, IL. Employed by National Lock for 30 years. Formerly owned and operated Highcrest Lanes. Merlyn enjoyed bowling, football and hockey. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Hubler LaFew of Machesney Park and Teresa Milburn of Murfreesboro; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice (John) Cruise of Ohio, IL., and Karen (Merle) Seffelfrick of Elburn, IL.; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife; daughter, Kathleen Try; son, Timothy Meyer; and grandson, Jarod Try.
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 17, in the church, with Rosary at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., Loves Park.
