Merle Eugene Hammack, 78, of Rockton, IL, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, in his home. Born on June 19, 1945, in Rockford, IL, the son of Lawrence and Pearl (Tackett) Hammack. He married Jeanne L. Harrison. Merle co-owned and operated 3-Hammer Construction. The loss of Merle leaves a huge void in the lives of all who loved and knew him. Survivors include his son, Brent (Tonda) Hammack; grandchildren, Brittany (Kyle) Browning, Jamie (Adam) Cantrell, Cassidy (Jesse) Sodergren, Lauren Sankey, and Cole Sankey; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Irvin (Joanne) Hammack, Glenn (Nancy) Hammack, Beverly (Dale) Rollins, and Terri (Brion) Heuer; sisters- in-law, Lavonne Hammack and Sally (Danny) Shaw; many nieces and nephews; and dear family friends, Deen Cooper, Dave Schusler, Tim Neuschwander, and Mick Steede. Predeceased by his parents; wife; brother, Larry; and sister, Judith Handt.

Private family services were held with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
