Matthew Dale Slayton, 30, of Loves Park, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Javon Bea Hospital. Born February 13, 1993, in Georgia. Matthew loved baseball games, the outdoors, and listening to music. Avid Chicago Bears fan. He had the best smile and could melt your heart. Matthew loved to sleep all day and be up all night. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his mother, Miaake (Donald) Driscoll, III; siblings, Justin (Kelsey) Slayton, Ashlie Slayton, Dylan Driscoll, Kaitlyn Driscoll, and Kara Driscoll; uncle, Jason Bruns; aunt, Samantha (Shane) Griffin; nephew, Noah Slayton; grandmothers, Patricia Williams, and Kathleen Driscoll; and grandfathers, Donald (Deb) Driscoll, Jr., and Richard (Pam) Bruns. Predeceased by his grandfather, Daniel Williams; and grandparents, Harlan and Margaret Meyer, and Homer and Lila Bruns. Special thanks to the staff at Walter Lawson Children’s Home.

Memorial service at 3 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 2 p.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
