Mary Trapani

May 8, 1939 — December 18, 2021

Mary Christine (Sacco) Trapani, 82, of Rockford, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 18, 2021, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, with her loving family surrounding her bedside.  Born May 8, 1939, in Rockford, the daughter of Peter and Angelina (Vaccarello) Sacco.  Married Joseph V. Trapani at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on November 28, 1959, in Rockford.  Mary was the business manager at St Bernadette Catholic Church for 25 years.  Throughout her life, Mary was a faith-filled and devout woman who looked forward to seeing her God face-to-face.  Mary was excited to meet her Guardian Angel and the Saints to whom she prayed for intercession throughout her spiritual journey.  She believed that her son, Vince, would be there to greet and welcome her to heaven along with her husband and her mother.  Mary was one of six women who have been life-time friends since West High School (1957), and so enjoyed their time together.  From the Diocese of Rockford, she received the honor of being Woman of the Year for her service to St. Bernadette Parish.  She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, the Ladies of St. Bernadette, and the Rosary Makers.  As a prayer warrior, she started and led weekly prayer groups on Thursday evenings at Our Lady of Lourdes Adoration Chapel.  She is survived by four children who realized her great love for them by the many sacrifices she made and the joy that she brought them.  They responded to their mother's love with affection, their presence, and dedication to her.  She loved watching the Green Bay Packers with her family.  Survivors include daughters, Connie (Jim) Haag, Angela (Billy) Pappas, and Mary Jo Trapani; son, Joe C. (Rhonda) Trapani; grandchildren, Nick (Claire) Pappas, Melissa Pappas, Jenessa Pappas-Wright, Dan Haag, Jenna (Doug) Martin, Peter (Courtney) Trapani, Katie Trapani, and Ellie Trapani; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Nina (John) Fulling; brother, Paul (Chris) Sacco; and sister-in-law, Joanne Gennaro; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Predeceased by her parents; husband; and son, Vince Trapani.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2021, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford.  Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethlehem Home or St.  Bernadette Catholic Church.
