Mary Sands-Secoy

Mary Roberta Sands-Secoy, 100, of Machesney Park passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in her home.  Born March 28, 1921, in Oak Park, the daughter of Clarence Robert and Mary Margaret (Baker) Meenan.  Married Eugene F. Sands in 1943; he passed away in 1989.  Married James E. Secoy on April 10, 2004, in Loves Park; he passed away November 19, 2007.  Retired from Barber-Colman.  Member of Harlem Road United Methodist Church.  Mary traveled to Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.  Avid painter, participating in art shows.  She enjoyed learning German and gardening with her husband, Eugene.  Survivors include her sons, Gary (Rebecca) Sands and Jim (Sharon) Sands; grandchildren, Matt Sands, Melissa (Jon) Henschel, Sarah Sands, Kristy (John) Britton and Stephanie Hill; great-grandchildren, Mallory, Natalie, Paige, Victoria, Ethan, Maci, Mackenzie, John Jr., Kaliyah, Amiyah, Sadie, and Arielle; cousins, Jim Witte of Saginaw, MI, and Linda (Tim) Studt of Downers Grove.  Predeceased by her parents and both husbands.

Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time.  Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
