Mary Lou McGuire, 85, of Machesney Park, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Born March 10, 1931, in Mc Gregor, IA, the daughter of Severin and Eda (Heilman) Johnson. Graduated from Mc Gregor High School. Married William V. McGuire on September 17, 1949, in McGregor. Employed by Union Hall, Rockford Saw and LaFontaines Vending. Charter member of Christ Lutheran Church. Member of Loves Park Ladies VFW Auxiliary. She was a SAVE volunteer at Parker Center and was a tutor at Rock Cut Elementary School. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, planning events, spending time with her grandchildren and organizing and participating in the annual Christmas Cookie Bake. Survivors include her children, Mike (Barbara) McGuire, Olive (John) Ellis, Mark (Cindy) McGuire, Mario McGuire, Nancy (Danny) Richards and William (Beth) McGuire; daughter-in-law, Betty McGuire; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Severna Cowell of McGregor; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband; sons, Monty and Milton; daughter, Marcia; granddaughter, Jessica; and grandson, Allen. The family wishes to thank Northern Illinois Hospice for their loving care.
Service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, in Christ Lutheran Church, 425 Riverside Blvd., Belvidere. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 12, in the church. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., Loves Park.
