Mary Labore

January 30, 1945 — July 12, 2025

Mary F. LaBore, 80, of Freeport, IL, formerly of Loves Park, IL, passed away Saturday July 12, 2025, at Liberty Village in Freeport, IL.  Born January 30, 1945. in Sheffield, AL, the daughter of Willie Oscar and Ollie Pearl (Wilbanks) Sibley.  Mary, along with her mother and sister, moved from Sheffield, AL, to Rockford, IL, in 1962.

Mary and her sister, Genet, lived together in Loves Park until they were moved into assisted living facilities in Freeport, IL, in 2021.  They moved to Freeport, so their good friend Shirley “Sami” Workinger could help care for them.

Mary worked at various jobs throughout the years.  In 2003, at one of her jobs, is where she met Sami, and they became loyal friends.  They maintained a close friendship until Genet and Mary's passing.

Mary enjoyed reading, sewing, drawing, making jewelry, adult coloring books, and word search books.  She was a very talented artist and will be remembered for her various paintings and drawings.

Mary will be greatly missed for her kind heart and her wonderful sense of humor.  She was a joy to all who met her.

Survivors include her estranged daughter, Tanya Mead; and her grandson, Dexter Mead of Indiana.  Mary loved every minute she spent with her grandson.  She talked about how blessed she was to have him and what a special young man he was.  She loved him dearly.  She was predeceased by her parents, Willie Oscar and Ollie Pearl; sister, Genet Sibley; and brother, Willie Oscar Sibley, Jr.

As per Mary's request, there will be no services.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield, AL.  She will be laid to rest next to her family that she loved and missed tremendously.  Local arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
