Martin Prickett

May 7, 1956 — February 11, 2025

Martin “Marty” W. Prickett, 68, of South Beloit, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in his home, with his devoted family by his side.  Marty was born on May 7, 1956, in DeKalb, IL.  He was a skilled tool maker who worked for several companies in the Rockford area, including Slidematic, American Pfauter, and Rockford Automation, among others.  Throughout his career, he took pride in tackling complex tasks, ensuring every project met his high standards of craftsmanship.  In retirement, he pursued his passion for woodworking, building a wood strip kayak and a powerboat with his son, Jarrett, among his many projects.  He enjoyed spending time tending his garden, harvesting, and canning from his fruit trees, and sharing his craftsmanship with anyone eager to learn.  Outside of his projects, Marty found joy in spending time with his family, enjoying the outdoors, and traveling throughout the United States.  He had a lifetime passion for riding motorcycles, finding both thrill and peace on the open road.  Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Peggy Prickett; and his son, Jarrett Prickett; both of whom provided unwavering care and support throughout his illness.  The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Carbone Cancer Center for their years of dedicated and compassionate care, as well as to the staff at Serenity House Hospice for their kindness and support during his final days.

In lieu of formal services, the family will hold a private memorial at a later date.  Cremation rites accorded.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.  Memorial donations may be made in Marty’s honor to Serenity Hospice in Oregon, IL., or Wellness House in Hinsdale, IL.
