Marlys Nickel

Our beloved mother Marlys Nickel passed away on November 7th with her faithful spouse Eddie at her side in her home around 11:30 AM. She was looking forward to making it to their 10th anniversary this month. Although she knew her time was drawing near to leave us, she tried hard to stay as long as she could.

Predeceased by her first husband Donald DeJarnett, who she loved and shared a long marriage with as well. She crossed over to meet her Savior in the next chapter of her journey. Our mother loved people, her family, friends & relationships. She had many.

Our mom was a great storyteller. She could sit for hours talking about her life and experiences. She was the best mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother that our family could have asked for in this life. Our family will miss her so very much. We love and miss you, mom.

Survivors include her loving husband Eddie Nickel; children Debbie (Kenny) Westcott and Sheri (Paul) Westcott; stepson Todd (Tiffany) Nickel; grandchildren Zack (Sydni, Joey, Ethan) and Nick Westcott, Taylor (Jackie) Derry, Zackary, Lucas, Gabriel, and Jacob Nickel; and great-grandson Jackie Derry IV.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am, November 21, 2025, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL 61111. A visitation will be held from 10:30 am until time of service at the funeral home.
