Marilyn Schewe

Marilyn Jean Schewe, 70, of Machesney Park, departed this life with family by her side on Monday, April 11, 2016, while at home battling cancer. She was born January 6, 1946, in Rockford, the daughter of Davie and Lois (Riddle) Head. Jean married her best friend, Wayne Schewe, 43 years ago on July 22, 1972, in Machesney Park. She was a crusader in taking care of animals, whether they were her own or a pet someone neglected. Jean loved to garage sale and visiting thrift shops. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Until we meet again, we all love you. Survivors include her husband, Wayne; children, Tonya (David) Graves, Bryan Lintz, Jeff (Chris) Schewe and Tim (Melissa) Schewe; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 adopted grandchild; sisters, Cheryl (Chuck) Perkins and Jackie (Donnie) Carrico; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother, Gary (Carol) Head; and sister, Karen (Virgil) Hayenga.

Service at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
