Marilyn S. Clark, 78, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025. She was born on April 3, 1947, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Walter and Thelma (House) Hass. Marilyn graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1965, and from Rockford College. She received Master’s degrees from both Northern Illinois University and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Marilyn worked as a social worker at Janet Wattles Center and later with the Rockford School District. She served as a board officer of the Kinnikinnick and Hononegah school districts and, after retirement, volunteered as a court-appointed child advocate at CASA. Marilyn enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends, nicknamed the “YaYas.” She loved spoiling her grandchildren and cherished every moment she spent with them. Survivors include her sons, James (Rhoda Rae Gutierrez) Clark of Chicago, IL, and Jon (Emily) Clark of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Zosi, Jimi, and Jonny; step-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ava Mohney; sister, Patricia Gissler; and nieces and nephew, Cindy, Diane, and David. Predeceased by her parents and faithful companions, dogs Murphy and Sadie.
Celebration of Life at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 2 p.m. to service time.
