Marcia S. Warne, 90, of Rockford passed away Monday, March 15, 2021, in her home. Born March 2, 1931, in Nappanee, Indiana, the daughter of Oscar D. and Zae W. (Lehman) Haney. Graduated from Bremen (Indiana) High School, Class of 1949, and graduated from Manchester (Indiana) College in 1953 with a B.S. degree. Married Curtis Slabaugh on August 30, 1953, in Bremen, Indiana; they divorced in 1969. Married Henry Lawrence “Larry” Warne on September 16, 1972, in Rockford, Illinois. She received the MAT Degree from Rockford College in 1980. She taught in the public schools in Indiana for three years and in Maryland for 2 1/2 years before teaching in the Rockford Public Schools at Riverside, Guilford Center and Froberg Schools for 27 years, retiring in 1995. Active member of Spring Creek United Church of Christ. After Marcia retired, she enjoyed working on stitchery projects, was an avid reader, volunteered with activities, and traveling throughout the U.S.A. and Canada. Survivors include her children, Gary Slabaugh of British Columbia, Canada, Judy (Craig) Baker of Arvada, Colorado, and Bill (Suzanne) Slabaugh of Clarksville, Tennessee; stepchildren, Scott M. (Renee) Warne of Three Rivers, Michigan, Shelley M. Feddema of Cadillac, Michigan, and Shawn M. Warne of Grand Haven, Michigan; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Haney of Nappanee, Indiana; brother, Joe (Yvonne) Haney of Warren, Indiana; sister-in-law, Lorraine Young of Davenport, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her parents; husband; son, Richard J. Slabaugh; sister, Virginia Helmke; and stepson, Spencer M. Warne.
