Lydia Hein, 98, of Murrieta, California, formerly of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022, in her home. Born March 11, 1923, in Krasnoritschka, Ukraine, the daughter of Johann and Emilie (Ott) Lumpe. Married Leo Hein on April 12, 1947, in Hammelburg, Germany. Was a member of the German Club (D.A.N.K.) with her husband, Leo. A longtime member, with her family, of Concordia Lutheran Church, since 1954. Active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) for many years, and the Altar Guild, helping people restricted to their homes and providing companionship. Lydia enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking. Survivors include her son, Walter Hein of Murrieta, CA; daughter, Lucy of Russia; daughter-in-law, Linda (Helmut) Hein of Rex, GA; grandchildren, Collin Hein of Rex, GA, John (Pam) Donahue of Buffoon, SC, Angela (Alex) Savin, and Victoria of Russia; great-grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, and Katie Donahue, all of Buffoon, SC, and Arthur Savin; brothers, Richard and Rudolph Lumpe, both of Germany; brother-in-law, Augusta Kolm of Germany; sister-in-law, Alwina Lumpe of Germany; niece, Marilyn (Arthur) Hein of Riverside, CA; numerous nieces and nephews in Germany. Predeceased by her husband, Leo Hein; son, Helmut Hein; brother, August Lumpe; sister, Martha Lumpe; cousins, Elsa and Olga Schultz; nephew, Arthur (Marilyn) Hein; and niece, Lisiel (Bill) Zabaarylo.
Service at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from noon to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
