Loretta J. (Peterson) Ames, 86, of Davis Junction passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born July 20, 1931, on the Kickapoo River in Soldiers Grove, WI, the daughter of Lee and Florence A. (Rumsey) Peterson. Loretta was raised in LaCrosse, WI, where she met and married Gerald Guy Ames on March 22, 1948. During their 32 years of marriage they raised 5 children. Jerry and Loretta enjoyed their field trial dogs, playing cards and seeing their friends every weekend. Loretta loved to watch the Chicago Bears, grow flowers, dance and spoil everyone around her. She also had two dogs, Boo and Buffy, and three cats that she treated like children. She loved being around all of her grandchildren who brought her immense amount of pride and joy. They also got away with more than her own children were ever allowed to (except for maybe David). Life will not be the same without her, but she will be remembered forever in our hearts. Survivors include her daughters, Carin (Bill) Demus and Chris Ames; son, David (Mona) Ames; son-in-law, Bill (Marjory) Mondon; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, Gerald; daughter, Ricki Mondon; son, Greg Ames; grandson, Jerry Mondon; brother, Winston Peterson; and her parents.
