Lorene Carol Robinson, 85, of Loves Park passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021, in her home. Born April 26, 1936, in Rockford, the daughter of Harold C. and Ellen (Shugars) Schoonover. Married John “Jack” Robinson on June 2, 1956, in Loves Park. Employed as a bookkeeper at Ingersoll & Tapco for many years. Employed by Bergner’s as a teenager and during her retirement. Lifelong member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. She had an adventurous spirit, loved gardening, playing cards with her family and friends, and was a lifelong traveler visiting 49 out of 50 states, and wintered in Florida for more than 30 years. Lorene had numerous lifetime friends and would get together with them for monthly lunches and breakfast with the Harlemites. Survivors include her children, Janene (Ray) Littmann, Jeffrey Robinson, Jodi (Brian) Stromberg, and Jay (John) Robinson; grandchildren, Jolie (Andrew) Williams, Joseph (Theresa) Malasuk, Jenna Robinson, Jonna (Marcus) Leshock, Ryan Schlittler, Tyler (Holly) Schlittler, Erik Stromberg, and Ben (Lena) Stromberg; 13 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Oliver “Benny” Benjamin; husband; brother, Bud Schoonover. Special thanks to Suren Gorman and Danielle McBride for their love and compassionate care.
Service at noon Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in Bethany Presbyterian Church, 5403 North 2nd Street, Loves Park, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church.
