Linda Sue Gentry, 76, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Javon Bea Hospital. Born August 28, 1946, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Jack B. and Marjorie R. (Barton) Bressler. Married Jimmie Gentry on November 21, 1964. Employed by Nelson’s Flowers for over 40 years. Member of Centennial United Methodist Church. Linda was a wonderful wife, mother, and sister. She was always there for everyone and the leader of the family. Linda loved decorating her home and the flower shop for every season and holiday. It was her hobby and passion. She would have a Christmas tree in every room. Linda enjoyed vacationing in Chetek, WI. Survivors include her husband, Jimmie; daughter-in-law, Shelley Gentry; grandchildren, Zachary (Adrian) Bartscher, Elijah Bartscher, and Matthias Bartscher; sisters, Gayle (Tim) French, Pam (David) Smith, and Jackie (Denny) Hayenga; brother, Chuck (Kathy) Bressler; two uncles; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; longtime friends and co-workers, Doug and Dawn Stock; constant canine companion, Tank; and many special friends. Predeceased by her parents; son, Robert Gentry; and daughter, Brenda Bartscher.
