Leroy P. Storsveen, 84, of Rockford, IL, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018, in Rockford. Born February 7, 1934, in Winona, MN, the son of Palmer and Esther (Berg) Storsveen. Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from July 19, 1956 to July 5, 1958. Married Shirley G. Leighton on March 24, 1956, in Money Creek, MN. They moved to Rockford on February 12, 1967. Employed by Greenlee Brothers for 15 years. He started Leroy’s Lawn Service around 1990 until 2011. He was 75 when he gave it up to take care of his wife, Shirley. He loved playing dirty clubs and Schafskopf with family and friends. He loved baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include his son, Leighton (Shelly) Storsveen of Onalaska, WI; grandson, Erik (Jennifer) LaPier of Roscoe, IL; great-grandchildren, Emma and Jonathan; sisters, Ruth (Milton) Ives of Hastings, NE, Judy Pillouski and Nancy (Gerry) Kahler, both of Winona; sister-in-law, Shirley Storsveen of Winona; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime best friend, Lester Hogden of Galesville, WI. Predeceased by his parents; wife; daughter, Gayle LaPier; and brothers, Wayne and Merlin Storsveen.
