Laura Schwanke

Laura S. Schwanke, 98, of Machesney Park passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born April 10, 1922, in Angelo, WI, the daughter of Milton and Clara (Erickson) Cook. Married Fredrick “Fritz” H. Schwanke on April 15, 1943, in Sparta, Wis. Member of Concordia Lutheran Church and VFW Post 9759. Laura loved gardening, flowers, being outdoors, going to church and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Milton (Patricia) Schwanke; foster sons, Jeff Turek and Steve Turek; grandchildren, Ryan (Shannon) Schwanke and Heather (Jeff) Nagel; great-grandchildren, Devon Schwanke, Alaina Schwanke and Megan Nagel; nieces, Barbara Acres, Sarlyn Ziegler, Katherine and Donna; nephew, Mark Acres. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Fredrick; and sisters, Charlotte, Doris and Elvera.

Graveside entombment services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020, in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Walk through visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Social distancing and face coverings required. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Concordia Lutheran Church.
