Larry A. Myers
Larry A. Myers, 86, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born October 20, 1936, in Freeport, IL, the son of Maurice and Miriam (Folgate) Myers. Graduated from Freeport High School, Class of 1954, and later received his Bachelor of Science from Western Illinois University. Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea from 1956 to 1958 and in the Army Reserve from 1958 to 1962. He married Carol Holmblad on December 5, 1977. Employed as a managing director at Sundstrand from 1964 to 1992. After retirement, Larry owned and operated LAMCAM Inc. Over the years, Larry served in various leadership roles with the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, the American Club of Singapore, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the Aerospace Industry Association. He enjoyed golfing, building ships, and cooking breakfast. Avid Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and many jokes. Survivors include his wife, Carol; children, Barton (Laura) Myers and Heidi (Frank) Cichon; grandchildren, Ryan Myers, and Kyle Myers; faithful canine companion, Mocha; and many loving friends. Predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Roger Myers and Robert Myers. Special thanks to OSF Hospice and the nursing staff of OSF 4-West for their compassionate care.
Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a memorial to be established.
