Kitty Johnson

March 19, 1924 — December 21, 2023

Kitty Lavon Johnson, 99, of Machesney Park, IL, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 21, 2023.  Born March 19, 1924, in Cincinnati, IA.  She married Cletis Leo “Pete” Johnson on November 24, 1942, in Unionville, MO.  Longtime member of Calvary Memorial Church.  She accepted Jesus as her savior at Open Bible Church.  Kitty loved to play board and card games, especially Monopoly.  She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, Christian romance novels, cooking, baking, watching baseball, and game shows.  Survivors include her granddaughter, Jennifer (John) Hazlewood; grandson, Alan (Angie Ibarra) Merchant; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews; and her loving dog, Poppy.  Predeceased by her parents, Abraham Rowland and Dolly (Harris) Rowland-West; husband, Pete; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Harold “Gene” Merchant; brother, Abe Rowland; and sister, Lois Petty.

Service at 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time.  Burial in Willwood Burial Park.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
