Kenneth Young

March 25, 1945 — January 11, 2025

Kenneth “Ken” D. Young, 79, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 11, 2025, in his home. Born March 25, 1945, in Rockford, IL, the son of Howard F. and Ferne I. (Peterman) Young. Attended Harlem High School. He married Diane Dahl on June 8, 1974, in Rockton, IL. He began working at age 18 at Highway Grocery, and more recently by Rockford Products, Jackson Screw, and retired from Rockford Spring in 2014. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing boating and watching NASCAR. Survivors include his wife, Diane; son, Casey Young; daughter, Tammy; grandchildren, Chloe, Kelsey, and Diesel; brothers, Joe (Linda) Young and Dave (Judy) Young; sisters, Barb Speiser and Beverly (Duane) Barclay; sister-in-law, Doris Young; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved fur babies, Abby and Juno. Predeceased by parents; brother, Earl Young; sister, Sharon Darnell. The family wishes to thank the Dr.’s and staff at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.
