Dale Bailey

Junior Dale Bailey, known by all as Dale Bailey, 88, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in his home. He was born on Tuesday, March 2, 1937, in Jonesborough, TN, the son of Holt and Gladys (Booth) Bailey. Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Rita M. Avey on March 20, 1965, in Oregon, IL. Dale retired from Reed-Chatwood formerly Barber-Coleman Company. He enjoyed gardening, growing the best tomatoes, and riding his bicycle. Dale was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Survivors include his daughter, Julia (Tim) Johnson; grandchildren, Alex Johnson and Katrina (Cody) Crane; and partner, Sharlene Moore. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Rita Bailey; daughters, Virginia Jackson and Nina Garman; and son, Euel Bailey.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. Private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL.
