Judith “Judy” Claire Hallberg, 86, of Washington, IL, formerly of Rockford, IL, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Chapters Living of Washington. She was born on February 19, 1939, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Emery William and Clarice Mary (Koch) Abbott. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1957, and attended Northern Illinois University. She married Robert “Bob” B. Hallberg on December 5, 1959, in Loves Park, IL. Judy was a secretary for many businesses including Johnson & Maurer Realtors for 18 years, retiring in 2001. Her favorite job was being a foster parent. For many years, she and Bob took their entire family to the U.P. of Michigan for the Christmas holiday. She always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking a trip with her daughter and son-in-law, but her special joy was spending time with her grandson, Nicholas. She liked her flowers and always wanted to add just one more. Judy believed in angels. Survivors include her husband, Bob; daughter, Suzanne (Jack) Caldwell; grandchildren, Nicholas (Cassie) Hallberg, Courtney Caldwell, Justin Caldwell, and Matthew (Jamie) Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Maxwell Hallberg, Mila Hallberg, Hayes Hallberg, Carter Caldwell, and Carmen Caldwell; sister-in-law, Helen Abbott; brother-in-law, Lynn (Karen) Hallberg; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents; brother, David Abbott; son, Thomas Hallberg; a special grandmother, Hannah (Peterson) Koch; and brother-in-law, Gary Hallberg.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with a memorial visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date in Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Chapters Living of Washington, Illinois, an assisted living facility that Bob and Judy enjoyed living in for several years.
