Joyce Mclaughlin

Joyce E. McLaughlin, 94, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully Monday, February 8, 2021, in Wesley Willows.  Born May 1, 1926, in North Freedom, WI, the daughter of Chester A. and Viva (King) Wilson.  She met her future husband, Ken, at Lake Lawn Resort in Delevan, WI.  He liked her ankles, and she gave up her boyfriend with a boat to be with him. She married Kenneth D. McLaughlin on October 20, 1950, in Champaign, IL.  Employed by Oconomowoc School District for many years and retired from the State of Wisconsin as a food service consultant in 1991.  Member of Third Presbyterian Church in Rockford, IL, Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Cottage Grove, WI, and Delafield Presbyterian Church in Delafield, WI.  Joyce enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, gardening, baking, bird watching and collecting rocks and shells.  She loved her grandchildren, neighborhood grandchildren and was known as a grandmother to everyone.  Survivors include her children, Larry and Cathy Rossi-McLaughlin of Newark, DE, Betty Bartolotta of Las Vegas, NV, Grant (Lisa Maas) McLaughlin of Hartland, WI, Barbara Clements of Loves Park, IL, and Brian McLaughlin of Wisconsin Dells, WI; grandchildren, Jason and Sue Bartolotta, Erica and Joseph Hughes, Jared and Cynthia Clements; great-grandchildren, Sean, Zac, Leo, Zac, Ella, Joclyn, and Caitlin; sisters-in-law, Ree Wilson and Mary McLaughlin; many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her parents; husband; sons-in-law, John Bartolotta and Alan Clements; brothers, James and Jean Wilson and Ivan “Hack” Wilson; brothers-in-law, Dean and Thelma “Pam”, Bill and Ginny, Ray and Margi, Bob and Wanda McLaughlin.  The family wishes to thank Hospice Care of America and Wesley Willows for their outstanding love and care.

Private family services will be held.  Burial in Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville, WI.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
