Joy Self

Joy Self, 95, of Machesney Park, passed away peacefully Friday, January 14, 2022.  Born December 11, 1926, in Patoka, the daughter of John and Tressie (Forehand) Barnes.  Married Floyd E. Self on June 8, 1947, in Patoka.  Employed by Rockford Dry Goods and Jewel Foods.  Lifetime member of Loves Park VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, and making crafts.  Joy loved attending her granddaughter’s and great-granddaughter’s dance recitals and soccer games.  Survivors include her husband, Floyd; daughter, Carolyn (Dave) Seaberg; granddaughter, Jennifer (Derek) Hunter; great-granddaughters, Hailey, Kaci, and Rylee.  Predeceased by son, Michael; two brothers; and one sister.

Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time.  Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
