Josephine F. Friel, 98, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 10, 2023, surrounded by family. Born September 16, 1924, in Rockford, the daughter of George and Josephine (Witkowski) Szuminski. Graduated from West High School, Class of 1942. She married Joseph James Friel on October 2, 1948. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Josephine was a championship bowler, golfer and enjoyed many of Rockford’s golf courses. She enjoyed her many friendships at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Josephine will be remembered by her loving family and friends.
Private family inurnment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
