Joseph “Joe” L. Holliday, 95, of Loves Park, was called home Friday, November 23, 2018. Born September 1, 1923, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of W. M. and Eula (King) Holliday. Married Dolores L. Edmond on February 6, 1947, in Columbus, Kansas. Employed by Amerock for many years, retiring in 1985. Veteran of the U.S. Army. Member of First Baptist Church of Machesney Park where he enjoyed spending time and participating in the activities with the senior group. Member of the Rockton American Legion. Joe loved gardening, woodworking, collecting toy trucks, camping and traveling. Survivors include daughter, Candy (Danny) Glidden of Roscoe; daughter-in-law, Sharon Holliday of Louisville, MO; 3 grandchildren, Melissa Holliday of Louisville, Jason (Olivia) Glidden of South Beloit and Heather (Breck) Schlueter of Rockford; 6 great-grandchildren, Eliora, Tullian and Oren Schlueter, Bella, Luna and Finnegan Glidden; several nieces and nephews; loving friend, Emily Cook. Predeceased by his wife; son, Bill Holliday; brother, Charles; and sisters, Hazel Hines, Helen Hart and Billie Jean Saraco. Service at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 5 p.m. to service time. Graveside service at 9 a.m. Thursday, November 7, in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
