Joseph “Joe” M. Conti, 80, of Roscoe, IL, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in his home. Born January 29, 1944, in Rockford, IL, the son of Joseph M. and Nellie Marie (Mackey) Conti. Graduated from Rockford East High School. He married Penny Hall on April 15, 1977, in Rockford. Employed in the IT department by Ingersoll Milling Machine for 36 years, retiring in 2004. Member of Classic Thunderbird Club and Rockford Model A Club. Avid bowler and Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include his wife, Penny; brother, Richard (Shirley) Townsend; niece, Amy Townsend; nephew, Paul Townsend; special friends, Ron Langquist, and Carl Howard; and his horses, Serendipity, Shiloh’s Honor, Chaos Reigns. Predeceased by his parents; loving uncle who was like a father, Jacob Mackey; sister-in-law, Nancy Townsend; and loving Labrador fur baby, Shadow; and various other pets.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. Casual attire is encouraged. Cremation rites accorded.
