Jonathon "John" Parsons

Jonathon “John” P. Parsons, 74, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Born October 9, 1945, in Mitchell, SD, the son of Frank and Alma (Bauer) Parsons. Veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1969, where he received a bronze star, purple heart and numerous other commendations. Married Judy Hansen and they made their home in the Rockford area where they raised their family. Formerly employed as a plant manager by Meteor Corp for many years. He purchased Arco Machinery Movers in 1985 and operated the business for 34 years; retiring in 2016. He sold Arco Machinery Movers and retained Parsons Machinery Sales. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Longtime member of the Loves Park VFW where he had a multitude of friends. He loved to cook and entertain family and friends. John loved fishing and hunting. Business was put on hold for Lake Michigan fishing and chasing deer through the woods and cornfields. John and Judy loved to travel and took several trips to foreign countries and around the United States, including some to Vietnam reunions. Jonathon was a good man and friend. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include his wife Judy; daughters, Roxane Parsons and Rhonda Parsons; son, Ryan Parsons; nephew, Jarrett Parsons of Florida; great-nephew, Joseph "Joey" Parsons; canine pets, Chileita and Corazana; and many dear and much-loved friends. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Jerry Parsons; and nephew, Jason Parsons.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 23, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park. Burial in Argyle Scottish Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 22, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Carpenters Place.
