Johnie Blade, Jr.

Johnie Blade, Jr., 41, of Rockford passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021, in University of Wisconsin Hospital, surrounded by his family.  Born July 13, 1979, in Rockford.  Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1998.  He earned his associated degree at Rock Valley College and was working on his master’s degree in aviation.  Employed by U.P.S. for 22 years.  Survivors include his mother, India L. (Ballard) Blade of Loves Park.  Predeceased by his grandparents; sister, Kenya; and cat, Reboot.  Special thanks to the University of Wisconsin Hospital, OSF St. Anthony Medicals, and Van Mader for their care and compassion.

Service at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with walk through visitation from noon to service time.  Social distancing and face coverings required.  Graveside service at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021, in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials for an aviation scholarship will be established in his name at Harlem High School.
