John “Jack” W. Phillips
John “Jack” W. Phillips, 87, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Ascension Saint Anne Place. Born April 25, 1936, in Rockford, IL, the son of Arthur Bernard and Cordelia (Millard) Phillips. Married Janet “Jan” M. Phillips on February 13, 1954, in Rockford. Employed by Office Services installing office suites. Member of Concordia Lutheran Church. John loved fishing, traveling, playing slot machines, John Wayne movies, reading western books, and collecting stamps. He was a big kid at heart. Survivors include his children, John A. Phillips, Debbie (Bill) Lewis and Linda (Larry) Jones; son-in-law, Brad Toepfer; grandchildren, John B. Phillips, Amber (Mike) Cadrobbi, Michael Toepfer, Justin (Megan) Toepfer, Jamie (Peter) Toepfer, Anthony (Alexis) Helmer and Melissa (Brandon) Godboldt; several great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, David (Sharon) Connell. Predeceased by his parents; wife; daughter, Judy Toepfer; and grandson, Joshua Phillips.
Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
