John Allen Myers

John Allen Myers, 81, of Machesney Park, passed away July 13, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born January 14, 1941, in Rockford, the son of C. Donald and Lucile (Bailey) Myers. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Married to Barbara Johnson on January 29, 1966, in Rockford, IL. Co-owner and operator of Knorr-Myers Roofing Company for 51 years. John was a diehard Cubs and Bears fan. He was a member of the Lion’s Club. John and Barbara spent their winters in Florida for many years. He loved family vacations and never missed one of his grandchildren’s sporting events. We want to thank Northern Illinois Hospice and Don Smith for their unconditional love and care. Special thanks to his business partners and lifelong friends Ron Knorr and Louis Redler. Survived by his wife, Barbara; his sons, Jeffrey (Michele) Myers, Chuck (Dana) Myers; his daughter, Jacqueline (Gary) Kolthoff; his sister, Joyce (Sam) Mazzola; sister-in-law, Carol (Jay) Few; 9 grandchildren, Bradley (Ashley) Myers, Luke (Amanda) Myers, Jenna (Dan) Monaco, Joy (Christian) Klemm, Courtney (Warren) English, Kelsey (Brice) Terpstra, Justine Myers, Lydia Myers, and Collin Myers; 3 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Myers, Daniella English, and Lily Myers; dogs, Gizmo and Reagan; 7 nieces; and 2 nephews. Predeceased by his mother, Lucile Myers; father, C. Donald Myers; sister, Nancy Fiori; son-in-law, Richard Kolthoff.

Memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. 2nd Street, Machesney Park, IL 61115, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for the benefit of Elmira Wildlife Sanctuary and Fluff Animal Rescue in Florida.
