John J. Johnson, Jr., 96, of Rockford, IL, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022. Born April 13, 1926, in Rock City, IL, the son of John J. and Luella (Raders) Johnson, Sr. Married Ruth M. Swanson on May 29, 1952, in Galena, IL. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Employed by Barber-Colman for 37 years, retiring in 1988. Member of Grace Lutheran Church, Inferno, and Asylum Gym. John loved spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and working out. Avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Survivors include his daughter, Vicki (Brad) Warren; son, Gary Johnson; grandchildren, Carrie (Dave) Rancourt, Jeremy (Tiffany) Warren, Lorrie (Kevin) Lipe, Jake (Tasha) Johnson, and Jordan (Bellen) Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Rupnow. Predeceased by his parents; wife; daughter-in-law, Sandi Johnson; many brothers and sisters.

Memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with memorial visitation from 10 a.m. to service time.
