John Gillenwater

June 17, 1957 — September 26, 2024

John L. Gillenwater, Jr., 67, of Machesney Park, IL, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in his home. Born June 17, 1957, in Rockford, IL, the son of John and Eleanor (Roguski) Gillenwater, Sr. Veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. John loved fishing, music, and playing hockey. He was a former Boy Scout Leader. Survivors include his loving companion, Cheryl Kiely; son, Joshua (Meg) Gillenwater; granddaughter, Freya; mother, Eleanor; brother, Gary Gillenwater; sister, Tami (Kurt) Smith; many nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Miss. B. Predeceased by his father.

Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
