John R. Appell, 69, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, of a sudden illness. Born November 24, 1953, in Monroe, WI, the son of Robert and Marilyn (Cashman) Appell. He was known affectionately as “Johnny Rotten”. Survivors include his siblings, Dave Appell, Chris Appell, Cheryl Ortiz, and Mike (Vicki) Appell; numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. Predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Steve Appell.
