Joe Rieffer

Joe C. Rieffer, 59, of Machesney Park passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021, in his home.  Born September 8, 1961, in Rockford.  Married Charlene Olson.  They enjoyed 41 years together.  Employed by Asplundh Tree Experts for 34 years.  Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, lottery, slots, music, gardening, and cooking.  He touched a lot of hearts and would help the homeless.  Joe loved his wife, daughter and spending with his family.  Survivors include his wife, Charlene; daughter, Cayla; sister, Jennifer; numerous other siblings, nieces, and nephews; best friends that were like a brother to Joe, Bill Cooper, and Rob Sterbenz; special friends, Mike E. Lee D., and Bryan M.; and extended family, the Olson’s and Dieter’s.  Predeceased by his mother, Marjorie A. (Brough) Rieffer; brother, Gene Peavler; and favorite dog, Taya.  Special thanks to OSF Hospice, OSF Hospital staff and OSF Cancer Center.
